Mistakes we make when applying vitamin C on skin

Many of you already have vitamin C  as part of your skin care routine, especially at this time of year. Some others are still in the beginnings of using  it  and waiting  for  the wonderful results that this vitamin gives to the skin. However, all users should consider some usage tips. This is  for the very simple reason that vitamin C gives the right effect and you do not get unpleasant results.  Based on your frequently asked questions or your stories about using vitamin C, here are some mistakes you should avoid while using  it

1. Not applying vitamin C in the morning

Many of you are afraid to use vitamin C in the morning as you have the idea that it will create blemishes on your face. Let us tell you that except when the product itself is prescribed for evening use, the application of vitamin C is mostly recommended in the morning. Along with sunscreen, vitamin C is a must for the skin. It is enough to first apply vitamin C, wait until it is completely absorbed and then apply sunscreen.

Tip: Vitamin C is advised to be used after applying the tonic or prep lotion you use in your routine.

2.You want the same appearance and concentration in each vitamin C product

First, you need to keep in mind that different dermocosmetic brands follow different philosophies for the same product. So, there are brands that bring vitamin C in the form of viscous, gelatinous or oily serum, just as there are brands that choose to bring it in the form of cream, gel-cream or strong concentrate. A product can have vitamin C in the form of citric extracts, just as there are products that have it in the form of L-ascorbic acid (the most powerful form of vitamin C). Therefore different products with vitamin C have different textures, concentrations and japing reactions on the skin.

3. Usage of  a product with a higher concentration or texture that does not fit your skin type

This point is also related to the above point. To find vitamin C that suits your skin, you need to rely on its typology and moreover how sensitive it is. It is advisable for sensitive skin not to use vitamin C concentrated products from the beginning as it may cause discomfort. Carefully select the texture! Although a vitamin C product may be the most talked about at the moment, it may not fit your skin’s typology, so your skin does not fully absorb it and you do not get the desired and much talked about result.

4. Use it instead of moisturizer

Many of you who have tried vitamin C say that their skin has felt dry or tight even though they have used vitamin C regularly. But did you use moisturizer? Most users have expressed that with the use of vitamin C, the application of a moisturizer has been deemed unnecessary for the skin. In fact this is wrong. Regardless of the concentration of Vitamin C, the texture of the product and the accuracy of the application, you should NOT replace the moisturizer with vitamin C. They combine quite well together, without having to give up the moisturizer. And no! The skin is not overloaded if you use both, on the contrary the result will be quite good.

5. Do not pay attention with the opening time

Regardless of the pharmaceutical form and concentration of your vitamin, it is not recommended to use the open product for more than 3 months (ideally 2 months). Vitamin C is oxidized, consequently changes color, texture and often takes on an unpleasant odor. By being oxidized, the effectiveness decreases, while the skin may not absorb it as before.

6. Make mistakes in product combinations

For stronger or faster results, combinations of vitamin C with other products may be advised. But be careful. Do not mix at the same time. Do not place them directly one after the other. Such cases cause redness, irritation and peeling of the skin.

Do not use vitamin C at the same time as retinol or niacinamides. You may have parts of your routine but avoid close use of one product by another.

Be careful when using AHA / BHA at the same time as vitamin C.

For those of you who use benzyl peroxide, try to use it far away from vitamin C and hydrate the skin.
