Herplex cream is used to treat skin infections caused by herpes simplex viruses, including skin infections found in the genital area (herpes genitalis primary and recurrent) and on the lips (herpes labialis), the skin around the mouth and nose.Herplex cream should not be used if you have any allergic reaction to acyclovir or to any of the other components present in the formulation (redness of the skin, swelling of the mouthand tongue, rash, itching, irritations).There are not sufficient studies for the use of aciclovir in pregnant women, therefore the use during pregnancy or not is decided only by the doctor, taking into account the benefits for the mother and the risk for the fetus.It is not known whether acyclovir is excreted in breast milk after topical application. However, since there is no systemic absorption of the drug after topical application of acyclovir, significant amounts of the drug are not expected to be excreted in breast milk. Herplex can be used during breastfeeding only in cases where the doctor deems it reasonable.Undesirable effects are very rare during local application of Herplex cream.You may experience burning or pricking of the skin at the application site.Mild erythema or drying of the skin is rare.Cases of contact dermatitis (redness, swelling, blisters) can be encountered extremely rarely.This is an OTC medicine, so it can be taken without a doctor's recommendation.Before using this medicine carefully read the package leaflet as it contains more detailed information.Consult your doctor or pharmacist for any doubt.
