Levocetirizine hydrochloride is the active ingredient of Contrahist.
Contrahist is an antiallergic medication.
It is used for the treatment of signs of illness associated with:
-allergic rhinitis;
-nettle rash.
Do not take Contrahist:
-if you are allergic to levocetirizine dihydrochloride, to cetirizine, to hydroxyzine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
-if you have a severe impairment of kidney function.
The use of Contrahist is not recommended in children less than 6 years since the film coated tablets do not allow for dose adaptation.
Caution is advised if Contrahist is taken at the same time as alcohol or other agents acting on the brain.
In sensitive patients it may cause alertness and impairment of performance.
Pregnancy and breastfeedingIf you are pregnant and breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Driving and using machinesSome people being treated with Contrahist may experience somnolence, drowsiness, tiredness and exhaustion.
If you are intending to drive, engage in potentially hazardous activities or use machinesyou are therefore advised first to wait and observe your response to the medication.

-tiredness;
-somnolence;
-drowsiness.
